Following the hugely impressive R9 driver comes the TaylorMade R9 460 driver which combines the incredible Flight Control Technology of the R9 driver with the sheer power and wonderful forgiveness of a 460cc clubhead and a longer, lightweight graphite shaft to promote greater speed on every shot.

Using Flight Control Technology any golfer can easily use the TaylorMade wrench to adjust the face angle, loft and lie of the TaylorMade R9 460 simply by loosening a bolt and rotating the shaft into the preferred position.
This allows all golfers to enjoy a driver perfectly suited to their swing that promotes straighter and longer drives.

The TaylorMade R9 460 also helps promote draws and fades with different settings allowing for a side to side trajectory change of up to 40 yards, with the same settings also helping to reduce hooks and slices.

Note: The R9 460 Driver does not offer the Movable Weight Control feature that is available in the R9 and R9 TP models. The head is also increased from 420cc to 460cc.

TaylorMade R9 460 Driver - Specifications

The TaylorMade R9 460 driver has a larger clubhead than the R9 driver, which combines with a deeper clubface and lower centre of gravity to deliver a much higher moment of inertia. This promotes forgiveness, creating a higher spin rate, making it easier to launch the ball high and long.

Despite the larger clubhead and the technological breakthroughs the TaylorMade R9 460 has a new-classic clubhead shape blending traditional and modern lines, while still boasting the classic looks and beautiful design for which TaylorMade drivers are renowned.

The "Inverted Cone" technology that has won so many fans is also included in the TaylorMade R9 460 driver and helps to expand those areas of the clubface that deliver high speeds allowing even off-centre hits to retain their shape and distance. Each TaylorMade R9 460 driver comes equipped with an Aldila RE*AX 60 gram tip-soft shaft and measures 45.75 inches available in X, S, R and M flexes.

This extra shaft length allows the TaylorMade R9 460 to deliver much greater clubhead speed which, in turn, promotes distance off the tee. Flight Control Technology ensures that players using the TaylorMade R9 460 can shape the shots they want but the club also delivers the length that the modern player demands.

The TaylorMade R9 460 is available in lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degrees, with 9.5 and 10.5 degree models available in left-handed, so the club should suit players of all abilities.

In limited testing by "Hacker's Paradise" a random 18 golfers on a driving range were asked to participate in a "driver challenge." All 18 players hit their current driver and then the TaylorMade R9 460 a few times. They were then allowed to adjust the TaylorMade R9 460 to suit their game. Of the 18 players, 17 of them preferred the new TaylorMade R9 460 driver to their current one. Ironically, the only golfer that preferred his current driver to the new club played the original TaylorMade R9. Most of the golfers really liked the ball flight and forgiveness of the TaylorMade R9 460 when they put it to the test, with the fondness for the added forgiveness of the 460cc clubhead increasing with handicap. Significantly cheaper than the original R9, the TaylorMade R9 460 is a strong recommendation for addition to any short list of 2009 drivers.

The Taylormade R9 460 TP Driver is supplied with the Aldila ReaX 60 graphite shaft.
It is available in medium, regular, stiff and extra stiff options.
