TaylorMade R9 SuperTri Driver
The 2010 TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver combines the best features of the previous R9 and R9 460 drivers, namely Flight Control Technology (FCT), Movable Weight Technology (MWT) and a 460cc club head.
The larger head leads to a more forgiving club, with the centre of gravity a little further back than the R9, promoting a higher launch angle and more distance with the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver.
Introduced to the market a year later than the original R9 driver the SuperTri was developed to aid the higher handicap player who wanted thee adjust-ability of the former R9 bit with a more forgiving head.

TaylorMade R9 SuperTri Driver Review
The highly adjustable nature of the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver gives it great potential for golfers of all abilities. The combination of FCT and MWT offers 24 combinations that allow for 75 yards of sideways movement. Some reviewers have complained that instructions relating to the FCT and MWT technologies are not sufficiently clear, requiring a good deal of experimentation to arrive at the optimum setup. However, those with the patience to undertake some experiments have generally rated the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver to be the best on the market.
Inverted Cone Technology is another piece of technology incorporated into the makeup of the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver. Although "invisible," being milled into the rear of the clubface, it significantly increases the area transmitting maximum clubhead speed to the ball, generating extra distance on off-centre strikes.
All reviewers were impressed by the looks of the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver, commenting that its lustrous black finish made it very pleasing to the eye. Many testers remarked upon the depth of the face when addressing the ball, noting that its appearance was that of a club with far greater loft and negated the inclination of many lesser players to try to lift the ball into the air.
The Fujikura Motore 60g shaft, although only 5g lighter than the Motore 65 shaft of the R9 club, was also noted as an improvement by several reviewers. In particular, the mid to high handicappers found that the new, lighter shaft helped launch the ball on a higher trajectory, with increased spin, assisting the lesser players to produce longer-carrying drives, resulting in extra distance.
The most notable aspect of the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver, from nearly all reviewers, was its forgiveness. Many assessors noted that even mis-hits produced far superior results to other drivers they had tried in the past, with the feeling that every drive "came out of the screws," producing maximum driving distance, with even beginners adding some 20 yards to their drives. The forgiving nature of the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver, coupled with its exceptional accuracy, durability and ease of use led to most reviewers thoroughly recommending the club to others.
Amongst the beginners and intermediate golfers that had played with the original R9 driver, some had been put off by its less forgiving clubhead, low launch angle and low ball spin, which they thought limited that club to the more accomplished players with quicker swing speeds. Such players noted that the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver was a vast improvement, offering the same good looks, but with improved adjustable features and technological advancements, leading to a more forgiving, adaptable club, better suited to golfers of all abilities.
Overall, despite a healthy price tag, the TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver appears a "smash hit" with the majority of reviewers.
